Obituary

Ruby Rael, 87 of La Junta passed away on July 14, 2022, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta. She was born on July 24, 1934, in Ft. Collins to Fermin & Eloisa Alcia (Padilla) Rael.

She worked at the El Camino Restaurant for several years. Also worked for the East Otero School district for several years. She enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and old westerns and loved tweety bird. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, and she lived life to the fullest.

She is survived by her children, Diana Mendez of California; Judy Martinez of Colorado Springs; Cosme Mendez of La Junta; Henry Mendez of La Junta; sisters, Mary DeHerrera of Denver; Rebecca Poulson of Idaho Springs, CO; four grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James, Toby and Fermin Rael, Jr.; children, William Esquibel and Anthony Rael who also passed away on July 14, 2022.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. for both Ruby and Anthony Rael at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta with Pastor John Dell of the First Christian Church in Rocky Ford officiating. Visitation will be held prior to service at Peacock-Larsen Funeral from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
