CSP: Two Citations, No Injuries in Two-vehicle Crash on US Hwy 50 July 16

The Colorado State Patrol responded to a call initially reporting a drunk driver on Saturday, July 16th, upon arrival it was discovered that there had been a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US Hwy 50 and Otero County Road 14.

Sargent Kessler with Colorado State Patrol Public Affairs told SECO News that the on duty state trooper responded to a two vehicle crash on US Hwy 50 in Otero County near Manzanola, Colorado on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 3:58 pm that was initially reported as a truck and trailer swerving.

Vehicle 1: 2004 Dodge Stratus, driven by a 44 year old female from Manzanola, charged with failing to stop at a stop sign.

Vehicle 2: 2004 F-150 with food vendor trailer driven by a 73 year old male from La Junta, Colorado, charged with careless driving.

Narrative:

Vehicle two was travelling eastbound on US Hwy 50 approaching county road 14. Vehicle one was turning right into the eastbound lane on US Hwy 50 in front of vehicle two. Vehicle two collided with the rear portion of vehicle one. Vehicle two was reported to be weaving prior to this incident, however upon investigation no alcohol or drugs were involved according to the Colorado State Patrol.

There were no injuries reported from the accident.
