Description: The driver of the red Ford SUV fled on foot prior to officers arriving. Drugs and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident. At this time the accident is still under investigation.
La Junta Police Investigating Hit & Run Accident 7/26/22
On 07/26/2022 at approximately 20:31 hours, Officers with the La Junta Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of 5th street and Lawrence Avenue for a report of a two vehicle accident.
When officers arrived on the scene they located two vehicles that were involved.
A red Ford SUV was blocking the West bound lane of traffic. A silver Ford pickup, which had been parked and unoccupied, had damaged a gas meter due to the impact.
Officers blocked off the street for safety concerns.
The La Junta Fire Department arrived and was able to turn off the gas supply to the meter.
