Obituary

Larry Wayne Reeves, 64 of Ordway unexpectedly passed away on the morning of Monday, August 8, 2022, from sudden cardiac arrest. Born in Austin, TX to Jack and Dorothy Reeves. Larry graduated from Crowley County High School in 1977.

Meeting in January of 1988, he wasted no time marrying his beloved wife, Cheryl L. (Hitchcock) Reeves on November 12, 1988, in Fowler.

Larry Reeves started his 28-year career with EMS in 1989 as an EMT Basic for the Crowley County Volunteer Ambulance Service. Larry balanced a career in construction, his cherished family, and classes to complete his EMT Paramedic certification in 1997 to become Nationally Registered. He then began the next chapter of his career as the director of the Crowley County Ambulance Service.

In 1999, he was offered and accepted a promotion to Director of Crowley County Department of Emergency Management. In this capacity, he had responsibility for overseeing the emergency operations within the county to include ambulance operations, fire rescue response and operations, emergency planning and public warning systems. In addition to serving on numerous advisory boards where he positively impacted southern Colorado, he trained and instructed countless students through EMT Basic and Intermediate courses at Otero Jr. College.

In his free time, he greatly enjoyed sporting events of every level from local teams to being the diehard Broncos fan. Though it was easy to see that his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time and making memories with his treasured family. He had a passion for serving and saving other’s life and wellbeing. Whether answering the need of EMS on the ambulance, training others, or helping family/friends.

He was dedicated to serving community, friends, and family. Even in death, Larry continued to serve his fellow man by his final and biggest donation to positively impact others by continuing to save and improve a stranger’s quality of life.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl, their son Chad (Charity) Reeves, grandkids Jasper and Jasmine; daughters Jessica (Derek) Archambault and Jennifer (Brandon) Krzyzanowski; grandkid Owen, and son Brandon (Sam) Reeves, grandkids Sasha, Link and Noel.
