Bent County Sheriff Weekly Incident Report 8/20-8/26, 2022

8/20/2022

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Ash Avenue in Las Animas for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies found a person yelling for their dog.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Locust Avenue in Las Animas for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate any activity

Deputies responded to the 700 Block of Grand Avenue for an ambulance call.  Deputies assisted with loading the patient.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Garfield Avenue for the report of cattle walking in the roadway.  Deputies aided the cattle owner with getting the cattle back inside the fence.

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of County Road 10 for an ambulance call. Deputies cleared without incident.

Deputies responded to Hwy 50 and MM 397 for the report of vandalism. Deputies are investigating. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Grand Avenue for an animal call.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Vigil Avenue for an ambulance call. Deputies cleared without incident.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of 5th Street for the report of a suspicious person. Deputies were unable to locate the suspicious person.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Bent Ave on a report of suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anybody in the area.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Ambassador Thompson Blvd for a burglary alarm. Deputies found this to be a false alarm.

Deputies were at highway 196 and CR 34 when they came across an abandoned vehicle. Deputies checked the vehicle, found no parties and determined that it was not blocking traffic. 

8/21/2022

Deputies responded to the 1800 block of 8th Street to assist the ambulance. The patient was loaded and transported to the hospital in La Junta.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Bent Ave for a burglary alarm. Deputies investigated and determined everything was okay.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of 6th Street to assist ambulance personnel. 

Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Poplar for a locked door. Deputies helped unlock the door.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of 5th Street for a burglary in progress. Deputies investigated and it was determined the party was allowed to live there.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of 3rd Street for a vandalism call. Deputies took photos of the damages and are investigating.

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of County Road 15 in Ft Lyon, Colorado for the report of an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted EMS with loading the patient into the ambulance.

Deputies responded to the intersection of County Road FF and County Road 13 for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate the suspicious party.

8/22/2022

Deputies responded to the area of Hwy 194 and County Road 5.5 for cows out on the highway.  Deputies assisted in putting the cows back in the pasture.

Deputies responded to the 1200 block of 9th Street to assist ambulance personnel. Deputies assisted with lifting the patient and cleared from the scene.

Deputies responded to 5th and Carson for a two-vehicle, non-injury crash. Deputies investigated and cited one party.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 2nd Street for a civil problem. Deputies spoke with both parties and they came to an agreement.

Deputies were notified to respond to the 26000 block of Hwy 101 for a suspicious vehicle. Deputies responded, found the vehicle, spoke with the driver, and are investigating.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard and Ash Avenue for the report of a car hitting a dog. After further investigation, Deputies concluded that there was no damage done to the vehicle. The owner of the dog took it to the vet.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of South School Street in Hasty, Colorado for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted EMS with loading the patient into the ambulance.

8/23/2022

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th Street in Las Animas, Colorado for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies determined that everything was okay.

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of County Road 15 for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted ambulance personnel.

Deputies were advised to report to the evidence room at the Bent County Sheriff's Office. Deputies assisted in logging evidence for the Jail Deputies. 

Deputies responded to the 10 block of Bent Ave for a harassment call. Deputies spoke with both parties and determined it to be a civil issue.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of 6th Street for a report of fraud. Deputies investigated and determined it to be a civil matter.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar for suspicious activity. Deputies attempted to locate the party, but were unable to locate.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Vine Ave for a report of theft. Deputies entered the item into NCIC/CCIC as stolen.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Poplar Avenue in Las Animas, Colorado for the report of a disturbance. After further investigation, Deputies trespassed one female party from the property.

8/24/2022

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Bent Avenue in Las Animas, Colorado for the report of dogs chasing people. Deputies were unable to locate the dogs.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Carson Ave on a report of damaged property. Deputies are investigating at this time. 

Deputies responded to the 700 block of  Locust Ave on a report of dogs running around. The dogs were captured and taken to the pound. 

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Locust Ave for a funeral escort. The funeral was escorted to the cemetery. 

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Bent Avenue to transport an individual in custody on a warrant.  Deputies transported the individual to the Bent County Jail.

Deputies responded to the 1200 block of Ambassador Thompson Blvd. in Las Animas for a medical assist. Deputies helped load the patient.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Maple Avenue in Las Animas for the report of damaged property. Deputies took a statement from the victim. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Maple Avenue in Las Animas for the report of dogs at large. Deputies were unable to locate the dog.

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of County Road GG.5 in Las Animas for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies were able to locate the activity and found two people walking.

8/25/2022

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of County Road 15 in Las Animas for the report of a reckless driver. Deputies contacted the vehicle and determined the driver was lost.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Vigil Ave on a report of a suspicious person. Deputies patrolled the area and were unable to locate anyone. 

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar Ave on a report of threats made. Deputies found this to be a false alarm. 

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar Ave on a report of harassment. The reporting party just wanted to make a report. No criminal act was found at this time. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Oakland Ave on a report of damaged property. Deputies found this to be a civil issue. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of West 3rd street for a burglary alarm. Deputies determined it to be a false alarm.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Carson Ave for a vehicle lockout. The vehicle was unlocked without incident. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of 3rd Street in Las Animas for the report of a damaged property. Deputies are still investigating the matter.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Cottonwood Avenue in Las Animas for the report of a reckless driver. Deputies were able to locate the driver and advised them to slow down due to school activities in the area.  

8/26/2022

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Vine for a report of suspicious activity. Deputies contacted the owner and the suspicious party had permission to be there.  

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of CR GG.5 on a report of an unwanted party. Deputies found this to be a civil issue. 

Deputies responded to highway 194 and mile post 10 on a report of livestock on the roadway. Deputies were unable to locate the livestock. 

Deputies responded to the 1100 block of West 4th street to assist the ambulance. Life saving measures were applied upon arrival. One party was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Deputies received a call to assist another agency.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of 4th street for a burglary alarm. All entrances were secure. Deputies found the alarm to be caused by thunder. 

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of County Road 15 in Las Animas for the report of a fire alarm. Deputies discovered the alarm was going off due to the storm in the area.
