Obituary

Muriel L. Morgan, 95, passed away on September 4, 2022, at her La Junta home. She was born on October 8, 1926, in Short, Oklahoma to Matthew & Louella (Johnson) White. She married John H. Morgan on April 26, 1946; he preceded her in death on June 8, 1982.

She graduated from Muldrow High School in 1945. She worked at Gibson’s Discount Center and also sold Avon. In 1971, John and Muriel started their own glass business, Morgan and Sons Glass. Where she served as secretary. As the years went by everyone of their five children had worked in the business.

She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church where she has over the years served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, nursery worker, choir member and women’s missionary union. She served on the PTA committee as her children grew up.

She loved the Lord, and her worn Bible is evidence of that love. She always had a smile for everyone. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and considered them all blessing in her life.

She is survived by her children, Janet (Ralph) Showalter, John (Alice) Morgan, Ron (Carol) Morgan, David (Pam) Morgan and Helen (Dave) Nimmo; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild whom all called her “Jams”. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Lawrence & Matt White; step grandson, Steven Miller.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Brandon Mills of the First Southern Baptist Church officiating.
