Obituary

Fred Tabares, 86, of Pueblo passed away on September 26, 2022, at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. He was born on December 30, 1935, in Cheraw to Frank & Betsy (Ramirez) Tabares. He married Maria Eleanor “Helen” Blea on January 3, 1953, in La Junta; she preceded him in death on March 22, 1989.

He worked at NIBCO, feed lot of Howard Miller, was a CNA.

Fred was a loving father and grandfather, lifelong hard worker and devoted catholic. He loved traveling, yard sales, car rides, football games, Colorado sports teams and fishing with his grandkids. He was honored on many occasions for his volunteer service throughout Pueblo. He recently worked as a crossing guard for Heritage Elementary School in Pueblo. He will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Elizabeth) Tabares of La Junta; Frank Tabares of Pueblo; grandchildren, T.C. Taberas; Robert, Joseph and Nicole Tabares; Arthur Tabares; Frank Tabares, Jr.; Chad Tabares and Angela Tabares; numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren; siblings, Joe Tabares, Toby Martinez, Eddie Blea, Irene Martinez, and Christina Martinez; sister-in-law, Margie Medina; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, Danny, Vera, Esther, Gloria, and Tommy; grandson, Jeff Tabares.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, October 7, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
