La Junta Fire Dept. VS Motorhome Fire

We spoke with La Junta Fire Chief Brad Davidson on scene at Steen Ave. and First St. in La Junta for the incident report while first responders were mopping up.

Davidson: Some people were traveling through town pulling in to get fuel and stuff they said that as they were getting ready to pull into the driveway smoke started coming out from the engine compartment so they stopped it right where it was, thank goodness.

Got a vehicle off the trailer out of the way and before they knew it the flames were showing through the engine compartment.

SECO News: So they were able to salvage the vehicle in tow?

Davidson: Yup, that's good for them, unfortunately they had quite a bit of stuff inside, I feel bad for them. No body else got hurt, no body in the business got hurt, the business did a great job shutting down their fuel pumps just as a precautionary and we got everybody out of the building just in case.

SECO News: Alright, and of course we saw LJPD and Otero on scene with the assist.

Davidson: Yeah, I had them come in just in case to make sure everything got blocked off good and make sure everybody got out of the store okay.

SECO News: Thank you for doing your duty and serving your community, an unfortunate day for these folks on the road.

Davidson: Yeah, you bet, thanks for reporting.
