Obituary

Emma Montanez, of Ordway, Colorado, entered into rest, December 2, 2022 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado.She was born on Feb. 3, 1938, in Ordway, Colorado to Martina and Pedro Gonzales. She was 84 years of age.

Emma is survived by her son, Archie (Jennie) Montanez of Ordway; daughter, Gina (Eugene) Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM; son in-law, Kelly Westbrook of Ordway; grandchildren, Matthew Montanez, Evan and Elizabeth Gonzales, Teddy Sedlak, Christopher Marlow, Jeff (Lanae) Reeves, and Kelly Reeves; great grandchildren, Matthew Montanez, Jr., Novalee Montanez, DiAndre & Jada & Ashton Webbe, Jace & Iver Reeves.

Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Montanez; parents, Pedro and Martina Gonzales; daughter, Diana Montanez; brother, Jerry Gonzales; and mother and father in-laws, Julian and Lucy Montanez.

Emma was a life-long resident of Crowley County, was married to the love of her life, Arthur, for over 40 years, and raised her family in Ordway, CO. She was an active church member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She worked as a seamstress, and could often be found reading a good book, gardening, or cooking for her friends and family. Her lifelong best friend, confidant, and sister, Christine Encinas, was a big part of her life. What truly brought a twinkle to her eye was spending time with her grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Dec. 15 at 10 am, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ordway. Johnson-Romero Family Funeral is in charge the arrangements. A final committal service will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Sugar City Cemetery following services
