Obituary

Mildredjeane “Midge” Swink of Rocky Ford passed away in Rocky Ford on December 23, 2022 at the age of 98.

Midge was born in Pueblo on February 20, 1924 to Olen and Helen Fisher. She grew up in Pueblo and graduated from Centennial High School. She married Jerre Swink on November 28, 1945 and raised her family in Rocky Ford. Midge was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, where she was in charge of the outreach program. She would do the funeral dinners and arrange the flowers. She was a 77 year member of P.E.O. She was a 4-H leader of two different clubs for 15 years and taught the girls how to sew. Starting in high school, she was a candy striper at the hospital. She was in the auxiliary at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. She was also the first Activity Director at Pioneer Health Care Center where she then trained the other nursing homes in the area to start activities at their locations as well. She would also read books to the children at Jane’s World Daycare.

Midge loved children, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Midge was a window designer for department stores, and also owned the Towne Shop in Rocky Ford. She was an elegant, prim and proper lady who was always put together. Midge was full of energy and always smiling. If you asked her how she was doing she would say “Just wonderful”. When someone would tell her that they loved her she would say, “I love you more”. Midge loved to entertain. She always had perfect table setting and loved to cook.

Midge is survived by her 2 daughters: Jeannie (Wayne) Johannes and Cheri (Ray Bonine) Dillon, 4 grandchildren: Amy (Nate) Hoffmeyer, Karen (Ken) Geer and John (Ginny) Williams, Will Bonine, 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew .She was preceded in death by her husband Jerre Swink and her grandson Troy Epps.
