Obituary

Gary Gene Yocam went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 2, 2023 at the Southeast Colorado hospital in Springfield, Colorado at the age of 77. He was born on January 4, 1945 to Clarence Bert and Ella Mae (Collins) Yocam in Anthony, KS. He was welcomed at home by his brother John Max and sister Madeline. He started school at the Cottonwood School near his home, attended one year at Melonfield near Las Animas, CO and completed his education at Kim graduating in 1963.

Gary married Jennie Funk on June 19, 1965 at Kim and they moved into the house where they have lived for the past 57 years. They have two sons, Dale and Gene. One of the privileges of living this lifestyle is that every day is "'take you kids to work" day. The boys learned the value of a hard day's work and the satisfaction of a job well done. He was baptized at the Kim First Baptist Church on January 20, 2008

Gary enjoyed the rural life working with his cattle and helping his neighbors. He loved the challenge of figuring out how things work and repairing and improving nearly anything that moved. His mission in life was to provide for his family, take care of his cattle and be a good neighbor.

Gary is survived by his wife, Jennie; sons, Dale and his wife Samantha, and Gene and his wife Brenda all of Kim; granddaughter, Amanda and Brandon Hare with their children Austin, Brantley, Colt and Daylyn of Stanley, NM; grandson, Lance and Sara and their son Lane of Springfield, CO and grandson, Rex Yocam of Kim; brother, Max and Janice Yocam of Kim and sister Madeline Banta of Ft Morgan, Co. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in –law, John Casebolt, Guy Funk and Ralph Banta, nephew, Mike Yocam, granddaughter, Carly Yocam and daughter-in-law, Katherine Wheeler Yocam.

A celebration of life service will be January 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kim School Gymnasium with Reverend Rodger Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Kim Cemetery.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
