James Douglas McKnight, (Jim) of La Junta, Colorado passed away Friday, December 23rd, 2022, at the age of 70. Jim passed away in his home on 2002 Raton Ave. in La Junta with his family by his side.

Jim was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 29th, 1952, to Vincent F. McKnight and Betty Jo McKnight, raised by his mother and stepdad James Mayhew. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marjorie Ann McKnight, son James Vincent McKnight (Gabrielle Powless), and granddaughter, Vidahlia McKnight. Jim moved to La Junta in 1976 to work for Miles Heating & Refrigeration, met his wife that same year, and took over the business in 1986. He cared a great deal for his employees, clients, and prided himself in providing quality work for a community he loved.

Jim loved his time going to the Lake of the Ozarks with his family and had looked forward to spending more time there after retirement. He dedicated himself to his family and loved his time spent at home playing with his granddaughter. He also enjoyed traveling, especially day trips around Colorado in his Corvette or on his motorcycle. He was a passionate dog owner and loved raising and training German Shepherds.

Jim was a long-time supporter and volunteer for the La Junta Boy Scout Troop 232 of the Rocky Mountain Council and a Key Member and Head Dad, (2003-2005) for the Koshare Indian Dancers. He is a Lifetime Member of the B.P.O.E, La Junta Elks #701 and the Knights of Columbus. He always believed in helping others in any way he could and regularly donated blood to Bonfils Blood Center.
