Gloria Thomas, Administrative Assistant Retires from Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center after 40 years of Service

After a career beginning in July 1982 at the then La Junta Medical Center and spanning 40 ½ years and five Chief Executive Officers (Elbert Detwiler, Jack Chubb, Dale Stoll, Lynn Crowell, and AVRMC’s present C.E.O. Andy Flemer), Gloria Thomas has retired from Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.

Thomas credits much of her success to her family and to the people she was fortunate to work with including Board and Medical Staff members and her fellow employees and community members as well as her thirteen years of legal experience and shorthand knowledge prior to joining the AVRMC team.

She has seen and been a part of many changes in healthcare and technology over the years including moving from manual typewriters to computers. Her plans are to spend more time with her family and friends. She and her husband, Rick, are the parents of Kevin (Brynn) Thomas of Centennial, Colorado, and Megan (Travis) Bender of La Junta, and grandparents of Reeve and Dax Thomas and Hailey and Triston Bender.

Thomas is also looking forward to traveling, spending time at the family cabin near Gunnison, photography, organizing a couple areas at home, and just sleeping in. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Administration and the entire staff at AVRMC, we all wish
Gloria Thomas the very best, and we will all miss her eminently!
