Obituary

Robert (Bob) Barton Ratliff passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was born in Denver, CO on June 17, 1944. Bob is survived by his wife (Diane) of 56 years, his daughter (Sherrie Lynn Schaefer), his grandson (Wyatt Barton Schaefer), cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents (Myrtle Ingram and Clarence Ratliff), aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bob graduated from Fowler High School in 1963, where he lettered in football, wrestling, and track. He received an Associates Degree in Engineering and a BS Degree in Technical Management. While living in Dallas, TX he obtained a private pilot’s license, and the family enjoyed many adventurous trips. He was a Boy Scout Commissioner, Cub Scout, and Boy Scout leader. Bob was instrumental in the July 2010 planning, layout, and setup of the Boy Scout’s 100th Anniversary event in Colorado Springs. One of his greatest achievements in scouting was earning the Eagle Scout rank in 1959.

Bob worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Lubbock, and Colorado for 13 years. He also worked for KLA/Tencor in Colorado Springs for 20 years, where he wrote many technical training documents for use throughout KLA/Tencor locations.

Bob was a man of many talents and skills. He restored antique cars, juke boxes, toys, gas pumps, neon signs and furniture. Bob was also very athletic and participated in the Rocky Mountain Master Games for seniors in track and field events. He was a self-taught guitar player and played lead guitar in a teen band in Fowler.
 
Bob will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends who he considered “family."
