Las Animas/Bent Fire + Mutual Aid VS Purgatory River Fire

Today at approx 1210 we were paged out to a mutual aid fire in Las Animas just south of town by the Purgatory River.

Very strong winds and low humidity made this fire move very fast.

An out building and a railroad bridge burned as well.

The head of the fire was finally stopped with the help of a few farmers and their tractors and discs. We were glad to be able to help.

Also on scene with Las Animas fire was Lamar City Fire, Prowers County Fire, Wiley Fire, Hasty McClave Fire, Rocky Ford Fire, Manzanola Fire, DFPC, Sugar City Fire and Bent County Road and Bridge.
