Obituary

Virginia Bell (Black) Reynolds was born on May 17, 1926 and passed away on March 7, 2023. She was 96. She was born to Alford and Lena Bell (Thomas) Black in Blanchard, Oklahoma. As a young child, the family moved to Clinton, Oklahoma where she grew up.

Virginia married Winfield (Bill) Reynolds in 1943. They moved to Richmond, Virginia where Bill worked for the Pullman Company and Virginia worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company. In 1953 they moved to La Junta, Colorado where Bill worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. Virginia was a seamstress and sewed for the public for over 25 years. She was well known for her delicate satin and pearl wedding gowns and the most elaborate velvet baptistery drapes. Her daughters' fond memories of her sewing years were all the teeny tiny Barbie, Tammy, Ken and Skipper doll clothes she created and the countless La Junta High School pep squad uniforms.

Virginia spent endless hours as a Girl Scout leader. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ since the early 1950's where she was a Sunday school and VBS teacher for many years. She and Bill enjoyed antiques in their spare time and had an antique shop on Highway 50 for a brief time before moving it to their residence.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Gary) Coy and Cindy (Jimmy) Day of La Junta; grandchildren Aaron Coy, Jeremy Coy, Heather Hultgrien, Mendi Krueger, Travis McClain and Taylor Day and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, husband, daughter Sharon McClain and grandson Jason Coy.

She has left an emptiness in many hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Gary Coy officiating.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
