La Junta Fire Department VS Otero County Rd Z Brush Fire

At 1208 pm today we responded to a brush fire just West of Rd 25 and Rd Z. The controlled burn had gotten away from a crew of farmers and spread to a large grove of trees.

Upon arrival crews started knocking down the flames all around the perimeter.

Mutual aid was requested from Rocky Ford Fire Dept and Otero County Sheriff Office sent a brush truck and DFPC Eng 34 assisted as well.

Crews all worked extinguishing all the trees and area. No injuries reported and thank you to all the agencies who helped out.
