Bent County Sheriff Weekly Incident Report 3/18-3/24/23

3/18/2023

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of County Road GG.5 for the report of a traffic crash with property damage. Deputies took a report.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard for the report of smoke. Deputies were unable to locate the source of the smoke.

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of Highway 196 for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies made contact with the vehicle and assisted the individual with getting the vehicle home.

Deputies responded to the area of Highway 50 and CR GG.5 on a report of a party walking in the road. Deputies made contact and found the party to be walking home safely. 

Deputies responded to the 200 block of East 2nd St. on a report of a burglary. Deputies are still investigating this incident. 

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of County Road GG.5 for a report of an assault. One party was transported by deputies to AVRMC.

Deputies responded to the area of Highway 50 and CR 12 for a motorist assist. Deputies gave the party a ride to the county line.

Deputies responded to the 11,000 block of County Road GG.5 for a report of found property. Deputies secured the property and placed it into evidence.

Deputies received a phone call from a party that wanted to file a complaint due to the party being banned from a business. Deputies informed the party that this is a civil issue and businesses have the right to refuse service. 

Deputies responded to the intersection of County Road 11 and County Road GG for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies were not able to locate the vehicle.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Poplar Avenue for the report of a disturbance. Deputies were unable to locate the disturbance.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Grand Avenue for the report of a mental subject. Deputies assisted EMS with the subject.

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of County Road GG.5 for a report of an assault. Deputies assisted ambulance personnel.

3/19/2023

Deputies responded to a burglar alarm on the 700 block of Bent Avenue. It was a false alarm and the premises were found secure.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 50 for speeding and arrested the driver for a warrant.

Deputies were called to the 500 block of Poplar for a civil standby.

Deputies responded to the 1700 block of County road GG for a call of harassment. Deputies arrived on scene and determined it was a civil issue. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Lois for an animal call. Deputies explained the rights they have to protect their livestock. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th St for a theft. Deputies were able to watch camera footage and an arrest warrant was issued.

3/20/2023

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Vine for suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anyone.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Vigil Avenue for a report of suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anything suspicious.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of St Vrain to serve trespassing papers. Deputies arrived on scene and the papers were served. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of east 6th street for a welfare check. Deputies arrived on scene and everything was okay. 

Deputies stopped a vehicle on the 300 block of Elm Avenue and issued a summons to the driver for 5 traffic violations.

Deputies were dispatched to the 11000 block of CR FF.75 for goats out. Deputies arrived and the goats were returned to the owner.

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of County Road 10 for a report of a domestic disturbance. Deputies spoke with the involved individuals and one of them left the residence for the night. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Maple Ave for a report of stolen property. Deputies are not able to identify a suspect at this time. 

Deputies responded to the 1,000 block of Maple Ave to assist the Bent County Ambulance Service.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Locust Ave to assist the Hasty/McClave Ambulance Service.

3/21/2023

Deputies made contact with six individuals at Bent's Fort Inn. Deputies found everything to be okay.

Deputies responded to the 1000 block of 4th Street for a 911 call. Deputies investigated, checked the welfare of the residents, and were informed that it was a misdial.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Elm Avenue for a report of an aggressive dog on the street. Deputies were unable to locate any dog.

Deputies responded to a walk in report of fraud and identity theft. Deputies are still investigating the matter.

Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Vine st for two large black dogs out. Deputies arrived and the dogs were returned to the owner.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of N Bent Avenue for a report of a burglary. Deputies arrested a female and booked her into the Bent County Jail.

Deputies responded to the 32000 block of County Road 8 to assist the Bent County Ambulance Service with a patient.

Deputies were advised of individuals driving ATV's through Las Animas.

Deputies responded to the area of County Road 10 and County Road EE to assist the Las Animas Fire Department.

3/22/2023

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Poplar Ave on a report of a disturbance. Deputies looked into the incident and found it to be civil. 

Deputies responded to the 14,000 block of County Road HH to assist Bent County Ambulance with a patient.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Garfield Ave on a report of a party stuck on the roof of their house. Deputies assisted the party with a ladder to get down safely. 

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of CR LL.5 on a report of a brush fire. Deputies assisted the Hasty Fire Department in putting out the flames. 

Deputies responded to the 4,000 block of Highway 194 for a fire and to assist Las Animas Fire Department. The fire was quickly extinguished by the Las Animas Fire Department.

Deputies responded to US50 in the vicinity of County Road 14 for a report of a fire. Deputies investigated and were unable to locate any fire.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th Street for a report of a trespass. Deputies investigated and were unable to locate the suspect.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of 4th Street for a report of a possible argument. Deputies investigated and determined that it was a verbal disagreement, and no crime was committed.

Deputies responded to the 000 block of Carson Avenue for the report of a welfare check. Deputies determined that everything was okay,

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Maple Avenue for the report of a domestic problem. Deputies were unable to locate the domestic issue.

Deputies responded to the intersection of County Road 10 and County Road EE for the report of a reckless driver. Deputies were unable to locate the driver.

3/23/2023

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Moore Avenue for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted with CPR.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Garfield Ave on a report of a runaway juvenile. The missing party was located and returned back to the parents. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th St. on a report of a theft. Deputies investigated and wrote a warrant for two individuals.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Poplar Ave for a report of a dog at large. Deputies were unable to locate the dog.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Bent Ave for a report of a two-vehicle crash. Deputies investigated and the parties were released.

Deputies responded to the area of Highway 50 and CR 30 on a report of reckless driver. Deputies issued a citation. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Maple Avenue for the report of a possible disturbance. Deputies determined that everything was okay.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of 6th Street for the report of a civil issue. Deputies determined that the issue was civil.

3/24/2023

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Locust on a report of suspicious activity. Deputies found everything to be okay. 

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of Highway 196 to assist another agency. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Maple Ave on a report of a dog attack. Deputies found this to be a civil issue. 

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Poplar Ave on a report of a dog running at large. Deputies issued a warning to the owner. 

Deputies responded to the area of 4th St. and Maple Ave on a report of stolen property. Deputies explained that the situation was out of our jurisdiction and advised who to get in touch with. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of E 6th St. for a report of suspicious activity. Deputies spoke with the reporting party who stated there was no suspicious activity going on and he misspoke, deputies checked the area and everything was okay.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Adams St. in Hasty on a report of suspicious activity. Deputies made a report of the incident. 

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Grand Ave on a report of suspicious activity. Deputies found everything to be ok. 

Deputies responded to the area of Highway 50 and CR 24 on a report of a dangerous driver. Deputies were unable to locate the driver. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of 5th Street for the report of dogs on the loose. Deputies took one dog to the Las Animas dog pound.

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and Milepost 400 for the report of a reckless driver. Deputies were unable to locate the driver.
