Bent County Sheriff Call Report 4/1-4/7, 2023

4/1/2023

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of County Road 15 for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted ambulance staff.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson for an unwanted party. Deputies spoke with the unwanted party and the party left without incident.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of 6th St. for a report of a dog at large. Deputies were able to get the dog back in its yard.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Garfield Ave for a report of llamas out. Deputies located the llamas and the owner was trying to round them up.

Deputies responded to the 10 block of N Bent Ave for a vehicle fire. Deputies assisted fire personnel.

Deputies responded to the 1,200 block of Poplar Ave for a report of an alarm going off. Deputies investigated and assisted ambulance personnel.

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of County Road 10 for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted ambulance personnel.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Vine Ave for an ambulance assist. Deputies administered one dose of NARCAN and assisted ambulance personnel.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Locust for a report of theft. Deputies took statements from the party. 

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Bent for suspicious activity. Deputies contacted the parties and they had permission from the owner to be there.

4/2/2023

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Bent avenue for a burglar alarm. Deputies checked the area and found everything to be okay. 

Deputies responded to the 1,300 block of Hasty for an animal call. Deputies were able to contact the owner about the dog barking.

Deputies responded to County Road GG and County Road 23.5 for a fire. Deputies arrived and assisted Hasty/McClave fire in putting out the fire.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Bent Ave for a report of an abandoned vehicle. Deputies spoke with the registered owner and they moved the vehicle.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of McAfee for an ambulance assist. Deputies spoke with the party and determined it was a prank and no ambulance was needed. The reporting party was spoken to about calling in false reports.

Deputies responded to the area of 5th and Carson Ave for a report of a disturbance. Deputies spoke with both parties involved and it was determined that no disturbance took place.

Deputies responded to the Bent/Prowers County line for a report of fire. Deputies assisted the fire department.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Ambassador Thompson for a report of a dog at large. Deputies followed the dog home and spoke with the owner.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of east 6th street for livestock out. Deputies were able to get the cows back in.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Carson for a theft. Parties did not want to speak with deputies.

Deputies responded to the 8,500 block of County Road GG for a report of out-of-control fire. Deputies assisted fire personnel.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of east 6th street for livestock out. Deputies were able to get the cows back in.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Maple for a gas leak. Deputies assisted Black Hills with clearing the house.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Moore for a water leak. Deputies were stood down before arrival.

4/3/2023

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Vine Avenue to assist the ambulance service with a medical emergency.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of E 6th Street to assist the ambulance service with a medical emergency.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of 6th Street for a panic alarm. Deputies investigated and found it to be a false alarm.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of E 3rd Street for a report of cows on the road. Deputies were able to herd the cows back into the pasture.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th Street for a report of a male smoking drugs at the entrance to the property. Deputies attended and were unable to locate drugs, but asked the male person to leave the area.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Ash Avenue to check on the welfare of a resident at the address. Deputies spoke with the resident and found no welfare issues.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th Street for a report of a disturbance and possible altercation. Deputies investigated and the involved parties had left the scene.

4/4/2023

Deputies responded to the 1,100 block of Locust Avenue for an animal call. Deputies arrived on scene and transported the dog to the pound. 

Deputies responded to the 11,000 block of County road GG.5 for a call of fraud. Deputies spoke to the reporting party and determined it would be an internal investigation with the individual's bank and provided the party with a case number. 

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Maple for a report of a stolen vehicle. Deputies investigated and determined that it was a civil matter.

Deputies responded to the corner of Ambassador Thompson and Maple for a report of a tree that had fallen on the road in the high winds. Deputies dragged the tree and debris from the road and notified the city to remove the debris.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of 5th street for a welfare check. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies were requested to respond to the 300 block of E National Avenue, Hasty, to check on the welfare of a resident. Deputies made contact and verified the resident's welfare. 

Deputies responded to the 11,000 block of CR GG.5 on a report of a suspicious person. Deputies gave the party a ride to the train station in La Junta. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Vigil Ave on a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was parked legally, and no one was around. 

Deputies responded to Resada in Las Animas to assist with moving a client to the RAC in La Junta. 

4/5/2023

Deputies responded to the 100 block of South Saint Clair Street, in Hasty, to assist the Hasty/McClave Ambulance Service. One individual was transported to the Prowers Medical Center. 

Deputies responded to the 500 block of 3rd Street to assist the Bent County Ambulance Service. One individual was transported to the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Bent Avenue for a report of a suspicious person. Deputies spoke with the individual and they left the area. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Vine Avenue for a report of an injured dog. Deputies were advised that a stray dog attacked the reporting individual's dog and caused significant injuries. Deputies will be following up with this incident after the injured dog sees a veterinarian. 

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and milepost 16.5 on a report of livestock on the highway. Deputies were unable to locate the cattle. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Bent Ave on a report of a reckless driver. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle in question.  

4/6/2023

Deputies responded to the Bent County Jail for a non-compliant inmate. Deputies spoke with the inmate and the inmate complied without incident. 

Deputies were dispatched to the 11000 of Country Rd GG.5 for a dog complaint. Deputies arrived and the complaint was taken.

Deputies responded to the 1200 block of 11th Street to assist the Bent County Ambulance Service. One individual was transported to the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. 

Deputies were dispatched to the 700th block of Vine for a call of a dog stuck. Deputies arrived and were able to release the dog from being stuck.

Deputies were advised of a theft that occurred in the 21,000 block of County Road 21. Deputies will be waiting for more information from the reporting individual. 

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Elm Ave on a report of suspicious activity. Deputies investigated and found everything to be okay. 

4/7/2023

Deputies responded to the area of Highway 101 and mile post 14 on a report of cattle on the roadway. Deputies pushed the cattle back into the pasture. 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson Blvd on a report of a dog running at large. Deputies were unable to locate the animal. 

Deputies received a call for a motorist assist at the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard. Deputies were unable to assist the individual due to the nature of the mechanical issue of the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to the 700 of 3rd St for a male party that needed to register. Deputies arrived and talked to the male party. 

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Vigil Avenue for the report of a burglar alarm. After further investigation, deputies determined that everything was okay.

Deputies responded to Highway 101 and Milepost 12 for the report of theft. Deputies took a report.

Deputies responded to the 1,000 block of 9th Street for the report of found property. Deputies were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of County Road 15 for the report of a theft. Deputies took a report.

Deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Grand for a dog possibly hit. Deputies arrived and the dog was not hit.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of 3rd Street for the report of an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted EMS with the patient.

Deputies were dispatched to the 900th block of Carson for paper service. Deputies arrived and the paper service was successful. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Sunflower and Hasty for a report of suspicious activity. Upon further investigation, deputies determined workers left the windows open from painting.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th St for an alarm. Deputies checked the building and found everything to be okay. 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson for a report of a suspicious person. Deputies gave the person a ride to his home.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th St for an alarm. Deputies checked the building and determined everything was okay.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Carson for a report of suspicious activity. The party advised deputies that they locked themselves out of their vehicle.

Deputies received a call in the 31000 block of County Road 15 for suspicious activity. Deputies patrolled the area and determined everything was okay.
