Colorado State Patrol Recover Stolen Car From Timpas Wildlife Area

On Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 8:56 PM the Colorado State Patrol responded to a report that a potentially stolen vehicle had been found submerged in Timpas Creek at the Timpas State Wildlife Area near US Highway 10 in Otero County.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, when they arrived on scene the vehicle was abandoned and the responsible parties were not on scene. 

Upon inspection and after removing the vehicle from under the bridge and out of Timpas Creek, it was determined to be a 2013 Toyota Corolla grey in color with Colorado license plates. 

Due to the vehicle being in the water and losing fluids, the Colorado State Patrol is required to notify the Coast Guard of the incident, but there were no further notes included on the report.

The Colorado State Patrol will be looking into any evidence of ownership as part of the investigation, according to the Public Information Officer, the case is an active investigation.
