LJPD Reports Arrest Made in June 5th Shooting Incident

 

On 6-5-2023 at approximately 0116 hours Officers with the La Junta Police Department were dispatched to the area of 7th St. and Rice Ave. for the report of a domestic disturbance. During the investigation Officers learned that a shooting had happened. Officers saw a vehicle that was involved driving by the area. 

 

Officers were able to make a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by 2 juvenile males and one adult female. Officers had the three parties exit the suspect vehicle. After a search was completed of the vehicle and the parties, Officers located a stolen firearm, illegal large capacity magazine, a small amount of marijuana, and an unopened alcoholic beverage container. 

 

One of the male juveniles was taken into custody and transported to the La Junta Police Department. The other two occupants of the vehicle were released from the scene. All three parties have criminal charges pending. Nobody was physically injured from the incident.
