Obituary

Milton Gutierrez, 74, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, He was born, Monday, April 11, 1949 in Starksville, Colorado to Antonio and Donaciana (Gallegos) Gutierrez. Milton married Lucille Tapia, August 12, 1977. Milton helped raise her 2 sons and was a great father to them.

He had several jobs before enlisting in the Army. After his military service, he went to work for BNSF railroad for 34 years before retiring. Milton loved gardening and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his loving wife. He also enjoyed the visits from his nephews and nieces.

Milton is survived by his wife, Lucy of the La Junta home, his son, Rick (Stephanie) Tapia of Pueblo, Colorado; grandchildren, Tara Tapia, Tyson Tapia, Kayla Tapia and Selena Tapia; great-grandchildren, Arianna Tapia, Rico Ramirez, Joseph Tapia, Jaelynn Tapia, Jazlynn Tapia, Nico Tapia, Levi Trujillo, Daymien Del Rio, Aaliyah Del Rio, and Zayden Tapia; siblings, Marcella Gutierrez, Abe Gutierrez, Arthur (Alma) Gutierrez, and Salvador (Lupe) Gutierrez; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by his son, Billy Tapia of La Junta, his parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be June 23, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joseph Matitu officiating, both services held at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta. Concluding service at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
