"Update as of 1330 - Valdez has been found in Pueblo deceased of possible drug overdose."

Be On The Lookout for Two Escaped Bent County Inmates

July 25, 2023 - Las Animas, CO.

From the Bent County Sheriff's Office:

"An escape occurred at the Bent County Jail in which 4 inmates escaped, two of which were apprehended earlier today. Mark Fox 46, and Benjamin Valdez, 34 are still at large. The Bent County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with Colorado State Patrol and the Otero County Sheriff's Office are conducting a search for the two inmates, and notifications have been sent out to the Las Animas community and to surrounding law enforcement agencies. We do not have a clothing description at this time. Mark Fox is described as a white male, Bald, 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 210 pounds. Valdez is described as a Hispanic male, Brown Hair and Brown Eyes, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds. Both are considered dangerous."

From Bent County Office of Emergency Management: "Escaped inmates out of Bent County Jail. Please keep your doors locked and vehicles locked and call 911, If you see anything suspicious or these individuals in your area, please do not make contact. Call your local law-enforcement right away. The suspects have changed clothing."
