Obituary

Heaven gained another warrior on the night of August thirteenth 2023.

Betty Lou Purcell-Hasty was born on September, 2nd 1959 to Russell and Betty Purcell. She fought the cancer battle several times over the years but this time the cancer won.

She is survived by her mother, Betty (Pete) Petersen of La Junta, CO; her father, Russell Purcell of Canon City, CO; her son, Mike (Jaime) Reed, grandchildren, Jade, Mavryck, and James all of Texas; daughter, Vonda (Tanner) Blevins, grandchildren, Amanda and Paisley Minich, Jacob and Courtney Redd, Nathan and James Farr all of Ohio; brother, David (June) Purcell of Canon City; sister, Vicki Purcell of La Junta; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her friend and care giver Glen Metheny. She was preceded in death by her stepson, J.R. Reed, Jr.

She worked as a C.N.A., beautician and dog groomer over the years. She rode horses in gymkhanas as a youngster and showed Rottweilers and had several champions.

Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1601 Raton Ave. La Junta, CO 81050, on September 1, 2023 at 10am.

Memorial in her name can be made to Arkansas Valley Hospice at 531 Lewis Ave. in La Junta, or to Pawsative K-9 Solutions, Brandie Jackson, 92303 County Rd 44 Kim, CO 81049.
