On September 29, 2023, the Aurora Police Department and the US Marshals Service in Denver assisted the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the arrests of Brandy Montoya (07/14/1982) and Emillio Paul Baca (07/17/1981), both of Aurora, for the death of Daniel Montoya. Criminal charges are merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Two People Arrested in 2020 Cold Case Homicide

September 29, 2023 – CBI –  Denver – Two people have been arrested in a 2020 Otero County, Colorado cold case homicide.

On September 29, 2023, the Aurora Police Department and the US Marshals Service in Denver assisted the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the arrests of Brandy Montoya (07/14/1982) and Emillio Paul Baca (07/17/1981), both of Aurora, for the death of Daniel Montoya.

Daniel “Danny-boy” Montoya, 58, was killed in Rocky Ford, Colorado on November 1, 2020.

These arrests follow an investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI’s) Cold Case Unit working with the Rocky Ford Police Department, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, and the Office of the District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District.

No other information is available at this time.

Criminal charges are merely a formal accusation that an individual has committed a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
