Obituary

Mary Ann was born May 7th, 1939 in Anson Texas, to Clarence and Hortense Garrett. She loved to ride horses as a child, and later raced cars as a young adult. She married Ralph L Scott, and later gave birth to Stephen G Scott on September 14th, 1967, in Midland Texas.

She was born after the Great Depression in a small rural Texas town, where she learned early on to be resourceful, tenacious, and fiercely loyal to her friends and family. These lessons would stick with her for the rest of her life, whether she was a secretary, a business owner, or working with the charities she so enjoyed.

She is survived by her husband, Terrence D Spangler, her son Stephen G Scott, and her grandson, Colin S Scott. She leaves behind friends, family, and acquaintances who’s lives she touched in many ways both small and large. Rest in peace, Mary Ann. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Graveside memorial service will be Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta with Pastor Tim Muth of the Baptist Tabernacle Church officiating.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
