Obituary

BettyJean Wierth, 78, of Olney Springs, CO, passed away October 28, 2023 at Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway, CO. Betty was born and raised in New Braunfels, TX to Edwin and Marie (Glenewinkel) Lehmann.

Betty is survived by her husband, Dean Clifford Wierth, two sons, Clifford Froelich, Jr. and Bruce Froelich, step-daughter, Summer Wierth, her sister Jeanette Ormond, and her furry child, Jackson. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, LCDR Clifford Froelich, Sr., and her two brothers, Robert Lehmann and Dennis Lehmann.

Betty touched many hearts during her life by serving for over a decade as the head of Christian Education at First United Methodist Church, New Braunfels, TX before moving to Colorado and being the Executive Assistant to the Fairplay County Commissioners for 11 years and retiring in 2013. She and Dean recently relocated to Olney Springs in the last 6 years and helped many with employment during this time. Together with her husband, Betty raised many head of goats and adopted dogs. Betty was a master seamstress and loved to quilt and do crafts in her free time. She even won a few awards at local county fairs for her quilts and crochet. Betty never met a stranger and always was willing to help those in need. The world was a better place with her in it and she will be missed by all.

Memorial services are pending.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of choice.
