Otero Welding Experiences Robotics in Industry at TRANE

LA JUNTA — The Otero College Welding cohort visited TRANE in Pueblo, CO, on Oct. 6 to observe the utilization of robots in industries. The purpose of the visit was to provide the students with insights into the role of robotics in manufacturing processes. Led by instructor Eric Larrew, the Welding Department eagerly explored Trane's innovative robotics applications onsite.

During the educational visit, the students had a unique opportunity to witness firsthand how robots are integrated into industrial operations. This experience allowed them to better comprehend the vast array of possibilities and efficiencies provided by robotics within the manufacturing sector.

Robots are rapidly transforming the manufacturing landscape with their enhanced precision, speed, and overall productivity. By witnessing their potential in action, the students gained valuable exposure to cutting-edge technological advancements, which will ultimately equip them with a competitive edge in their welding careers.

Otero values educational collaborations and believes that hands-on experiences are critical to developing a deep understanding of industry practices. Through field trips like this, Otero aims to inspire and prepare the next generation of welders by acquainting them with the latest evolutions in the welding and manufacturing sectors.

Because welding is essential to so many industries, students will have the opportunity to specialize and build a set of skills that will always be in demand. The welding program at Otero College is designed to prepare students to obtain entry-level employment in agriculture, production, and maintenance environments. Our advanced welding training prepares students for more complex types of welding and welding procedures, such as robotic, railroad, and pipeline welding operations.

This program is designed to allow enrollment of both secondary and post-secondary students and will meet the needs of all prospective students including high school students, full-time or part-time college students, and adult learners.
