Obituary

Rudolph Frederick Meyers Jr. was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on May 12th,1953, to Rudolph Fredrick Meyers Sr. and Doris Ruth Reckner. Rudy lived in Pennsylvania until he moved to Denver, shortly before his 8th birthday in 1961. Rudy was the eldest of four children. He had a brother named Ted and two sisters Daunice and Lisa. From a very young age, Rudy fell in love with the outdoors and hunting. In 1974, Rudy founded a taxidermy business to work and earn a living that fulfilled his passion for the outdoors, which he carried on for more than 50 years. Though Rudy was self-taught, he quickly became the "go to" taxidermist for the Denver Metro area; eventually spreading throughout Southeastern Colorado as well, where he also became a very successful hunting guide.

Rudy's drive for success was magnified when he met and married Marsha Meyers in 1975. They had two children. In 1977, Natalie Nicole was born and Matthew Robert in 1979. Rudy adored his children and would refer to them often as the "pride and joy in his life." Rudy loved spending time with his children. Matt and Rudy were inseparable and loved to hunt together. He bonded with his daughter through the arts and taught her the trade of taxidermy, working with her side by side for a couple of years in 2014.

In September 1999, Rudy married his second wife, Debbie Carlile. They were married for 22 years and shared many hunting adventures together. In the end, we don't get to choose how we leave this Earth; however, on October 29, 2023, the Lord provided Rudy with a poetic hunter's death. After shooting a buck in the evening, Rudy field dressed the deer as he had done hundreds of times before. He then dragged the deer 260 yards through heavy brush. As he prepared to lift the deer onto the tailgate, the Lord called him home.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his siblings, two children, and 8 grandchildren.

Service Held on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at 10:30am at The River of Life Fellowship in Ordway, Colorado.

Bellwood Ford Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
