Obituary

Jarold “Jerry” B. Sitton of Rocky Ford passed away on November 12, 2023 at the age of 85 in Fowler. Jerry was born in La Junta to Bert and Leola Sitton. He married the love of his life, Donna Reid, in 1956. He worked for the railroad all his adult life until retirement, mainly in engineering for the signal department. He graduated from Chicago Training Institute and Cleveland Institute of Electronics. Jerry loved and served his community as a City Councilman of Ward I and Ward II and was former mayor of Rocky Ford. He was a past president of Otero County 911 Board, past president and District 6 chairman of the Colorado Municipal League. He was charter member and served on the board of the Rocky Ford Country Club. He also served on the boards for: Otero County Landfill, Otero Partners, Hospice and the Rocky Ford Tree Board. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and also a former member of the Lions Club and Elks Lodge 1147. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and deacon.

Jerry is survived by his 3 daughters: Jerolyn (John) Lockhart of Las Animas, Teresa Martinez of Pierceville, KS, and Donna Lundgren of Rocky Ford. His pride was in his tribe of 6 grandchildren: Aaron (Areasha) Lockhart, Joshua Lockhart, Victor Romero, Linda and Karen Lundgren, Abraham Martinez and Caleb (Rosie) Martinez and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Sitton in 2013, his parents Bert and Leola Sitton, and his sister Beth Mae Sitton.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to First Baptist Church, 966 Maple Ave., Rocky Ford, CO 81067, or to donate to the Jerry Sitton Tree Memorial, C/O First National Bank, 300 N. Main St., Rocky Ford, CO 81067 for a tree to be planted at the golf course in his memory.

Services Held on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church in Rocky Ford.
