Thomas Oliver McFatridge

Thomas “Tom” McFatridge, 88, of Rocky Ford, CO passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 at his Rocky Ford home in the loving presence of his wife Kay. He was born April 4, 1935 to George and Lena (Sails) McFatridge in Corning, Arkansas. He was the youngest of ten children. Tom relocated to Colorado with his family when he was a young boy and remained in the La Junta and Rocky Ford area his entire life.

Tom served in the U.S. Army. He married Eva Roberson in 1957 and they had two sons, Thomas Jr and Ernest. He was proceeded in death by wife Eva in 1991 and sons Thomas Jr. in 2019 and Ernest in 2015.

Tom married Kay McDowell on February 8, 1997. Tom worked for the City of La Junta for 40 years. He had an easy-going attitude and was an extremely hard worker. He was a long-time member of the La Junta Nazarene Church. He loved the Lord and rarely missed a Sunday service.

Tom is survived by his wife Kay, of the family home; grandchildren, Jason, Layle, Eliza, Lavender, and Blue, great grandchildren Irie and Alexa; numerous nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by first wife, Eva; sons, Thomas Jr. and Ernest; parents, Lena and George McFatridge; brothers, Everett, George, Paul, Caroll, Egbert “Buddy”, and an infant brother; sisters, Wanda Smith, Mary Mayo, and Alta Marguerite Rougas.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Lyon National Cemetery, in Fort Lyon, CO. Visitation will be Monday, November 27, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
