Obituary

Rafael Marquez, 48, of Rocky Ford, passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2023 at the home of his mother. He was born on October 5, 1975 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He lived in Florida for 29 years and then moved back to Rocky Ford in 2014 with his mother Mary Gallegos.

Rafael was an avid Denver Broncos fan, he loved to take his mom fishing, he enjoyed laser art and working on computers. His dog Duke was very special to him. Rafael was a very giving person and helped everyone in the apartment complex where he resided. His mother was the most important person in his life and they shared a very special bond. He will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Gallegos of Rocky Ford; sisters, Catherine (Edward) Ramsey of Orlando, FL, and Rebecca (John) Woods of Orlando; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his father Rafael Marquez, Sr. of California. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kristina Rodriguez, two nephews, and his grandparents, Rebecca & Paul Gallegos.

Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rocky Ford Church of the Nazarene in Rocky Ford with Pastor Paul Farrell officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta.
