Obituary

Cynthia May Medina, 74, of La Junta Colorado passed away unexpectedly at AVRMC, on December 4, 2023, in La Junta, Colorado, surrounded by her family. Cynthia was born on December 18, 1948, to Clyde Bowen & Viola Garcia.

In 1965, Cynthia married Jose H. Medina and had six children. Later in life she married Sergio Bailon.

Cynthia impacted so many lives with her kindness and loving big heart. Her smile lit up the room, her laugh was contagious, but most of all she had the most unique sense of humor. Cynthia was full of hugs, special memories, yet most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Cynthia is survived by her children, Viola Medina; Joe (Maria) Medina; Mary (Edward) Klusener; Chris (Dayna) Medina; Donnie (Jamie) Medina; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren; siblings, Michael (Bernice) Bowen; Gloria (Armando) Perez; Anita Bowen; Clyde Bowen; Chris (Diane) Garcia; and Anette (Bernard) Gonzales. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia “Huey“ Medina; and her brother, Richard Bowen.

Casket Bearers: Joe Medina III, Joshua Bernal, Charles Medina, Christopher Medina, Christian Jensen, Brandon Bowen, Ernie Baca, Steven Perez

Visitation will be held December 14, 2023 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Peacock-Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Father Joseph Matitu officiating to follow. Both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta. Interment to follow services at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
