Longview, WA Police Make Arrest in Whatley Homicide

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UPDATE:

Longview resident Brian Whatley, aged 48, has been identified as the victim of the recent homicide that occurred in the parking lot behind Superior Tire in Longview.

According to investigators, it is believed that Whatley was waiting in the parking lot to begin his work shift at the local tire shop when he was fatally stabbed.

On the afternoon of December 8th, detectives from the LPD Criminal Investigations Unit contacted Gilbert Platt, a person of interest identified during the morning phase of the investigation. Platt was located at his residence in Longview when detectives made contact. Detectives arrested Gilbert Platt, who has been booked into jail on charges of Murder 1st degree and Robbery 1st degree.

The individuals involved were acquainted with each other prior to the tragic incident. The investigation is currently ongoing.
