Obituary

Lawrence Baraza, 75, passed away on January 15, 2024, at his home in Swink, CO. He was born on August 15th, 1948, to Morris Baraza & Anna Montoya in Rocky Ford, CO.

His family moved to Kansas where he attended high school and resided there until he was 18, he then moved to California. From California he joined the military. Lawrence served two years in the United States Army. After the service he would travel back and forth from Colorado to California, until he met the love of his life Linda Aragon in 1976. They shared their lives for 33 beautiful years and had 3 children together.

Lawrence enjoyed playing pool, scratching lottery tickets and watching the Denver Broncos, however, his absolute favorite was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved family time and laughing. He was the life of the party and was usually the first person to hit the dance floor with his flashy moves! Lawrence had a heart of gold and was so helpful to all in the community. He was the best handy man in town. If it was broken, Lawrence could fix it. When he retired, he loved taking long walks and visiting people he met along the way. During Lawrence’s final days he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, other family members and loved ones. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends; he will be deeply missed.

Lawrence is survived by his children, David Baraza of Sacramento, CA; Isaac Aragon of Rocky Ford, CO; Edward Aragon of Rocky Ford, CO; Elicia (Sara) Hernandez of Swink, CO; Joseph Santistevan of Ojai, CA; Andrea (Preston) Martinez of Rocky Ford, CO; Joseph Anthony (Marilu Pacheco) Santistevan and best four-legged friend, Bailey Santistevan; grandchildren, Edward Aragon, Jr., Alexandria Aragon, Deuce Aragon, Ezequiel Hernandez, Antonio Torrez, Isabelle Aragon, Gabriella Chavez, Logan Aragon, Robin Aragon, Isabella Baraza, Jisela & Elijah Martinez;; 2 sisters, 7 brothers, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Baraza, parents, Morris & Anna Baraza, and 4 brothers.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, January 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass at 10:30 a.m. Both services at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford with Father Joseph Lawrence officiating. Visitation will Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford.
