Obituary

Jennie Madrid, 88, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford. She was born Sunday, October 20, 1935, in Rocky Ford to Rosalio “Charlie” & Consolacion (Gabaldon) Aparicio.

Jennie grew up in Rocky Ford. On March 20, 1954, she married the love of her life Felipe “Phil” Madrid. They started a family together and Jennie was a loving housewife and mother. Over the years she was involved with the American Legion ladies auxiliary for many years. Jennie also enjoyed helping the ladies auxiliary at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. She loved attending her children’s activities and was the biggest cheerleader for her grandchildren in every part of their lives. Jennie loved playing cards, bingo and cheering for the Denver Broncos. She enjoyed her trips with family & friends to Cripple Creek, Las Vegas and Blackhawk to play the slot machines. Jennie always loved life and her Catholic religion. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Jennie is survived by her children, Eydie (Marc) McCoy of League City, TX; Leonard (Janine) Madrid of Manhattan Beach, CA; and Sharon (Mike) Wadleigh of La Junta, CO; grandchildren, Bryce Wadleigh of Allen, TX; LaNae (Bryce) Pittsenbarger of Greeley, CO; Morgan Wadleigh of Pueblo, CO; Alex Madrid of Manhattan Beach, CA; Chris Madrid of Manhattan Beach, CA; and Holly Madrid of Brooklyn, NY; great-grandchildren, Rowen & Leighton Wadleigh of Allen, TX; Brogan & Maverick Pittsenbarger of Greely, CO; sisters, Ramona (Louie Alvillar) Olivas; and Candy (Ray) Medrano; sister in-laws, Emma (Ernie) Stimpfl; Lenora Aparicio; and Amanda Aparicio; brother in-laws, Joe (Della ) Madrid; Arnie (Marilyn) Madrid; and Fred Rivera. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Felipe Madrid; sons, Richard “Smokey” & Phillip Madrid; sisters, Josie Rivera, Nellie Madrid, & Crossie Rodriguez; brothers, Chris “Sparrow”, Waldo, & Pete Aparicio.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Peacock Memorial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunrise Graveside Service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 6:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO with Father Joseph Lawrence & Deacon Terry Marinelli of St. Peter’s Catholic Church officiating.
