Otero Clerk Reports: Colorado Secretary of State and Post Office Investigating Missing Cheraw Primary Ballots

According the Otero County Clerk Lyn Scott, she has contacted both the Colorado Secretary of State and the Post Office regarding missing primary election ballots in Cheraw, Colorado. Both are conducting active investigations into the matter. Scott said that as far as she was aware the missing primary ballots were only for Cheraw residents receiving P.O. Box delivery and the rural route residents received ballots.

If you are a Cheraw resident and did not receive your 2024 primary ballot in your P.O. Box, the Otero County Clerk encourages you to bring your Colorado ID or any form of identification such as a credit card bill or an electric bill to the Clerk's Office in the Otero County Courthouse and vote on a county voting machine. She said they did not anticipate having to replace most of the Cheraw Ballots, so they don't have that many paper ballots.

"Early voting started today, so their best bet is to come use a voting machine, because the 8-day mail-in cutoff has already passed," Scott said.

The Clerk's Office in the Otero Courthouse will be open on Saturday, March 2nd from 8am - noon to accommodate voters, according to Scott.

If you did not receive your primary ballot in the mail notify the Colorado Secretary of State by calling: 303-894-2200 or contact by email: elections@coloradosos.gov

Contact the Post Office Inspector by calling: 720-460-8813
