Obituary

Rocky Ford resident Marion A. Van Dyk Portner passed away on March 9, 2024 in Fowler. Marion was born on July 11, 1927 in Rocky Ford to Murrel and Mina Anderson. She married Leonard P. “Bud” Van Dyk on March 15, 1946. After Bud’s death she married Samuel Portner.

Marion served on various boards and committees throughout the years. She enjoyed being active in the community and was proud to call Rocky Ford home. Marion loved spending time with her family. She especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marion is survived by her son Neil (Nancy) Van Dyk of Rocky Ford, daughter Laurie (Steve) Maxfield of Monte Vista, 4 grandchildren: Eric (Shayla) Van Dyk, Nicholas (Jenn) Van Dyk, Russell (Diane Crow) Van Dyk & Stephanie (Thor Martinez) Maxfield, great-grandchildren: Cayson Van Dyk, Grady Van Dyk, Dutch Van Dyk, & Taylor Van Dyk along with numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, husbands, and 5 siblings.

Friends who wish can make donations in Marion’s memory to Fowler Health Care Center, 221 2nd St., Fowler, CO 81039, Cottonwood Ridge Assisted Living Center, 1122 S. 12th St., Rocky Ford, CO 81067 or Community Presbyterian Church, 303 S. 9th St., Rocky Ford, CO 81067.

Services Held on Monday, March 18th, 2024 at 11:00am at the First Christian Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado. 

Bellwood Ford Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
