Rita C. Abeyta, 83 years of age, passed on Sunday, 2/18/2024 at Pioneer Health Care Center. Rita was born May 27, 1941 in La Junta, Colorado to John Benjamin Abeyta and Delfina Quintana. Rita is one of 5 siblings, Fritz Abeyta, Corina Recendez, Susie Pantoya who preceded her in death and surviving sibling Linda (Alfred) Gonzales.

She loved to spend time with her family, her favorite pastimes were listening to music, reading, doing word search and crossword puzzle books, playing card games. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

She is survived by her children Kathy Garcia of Colorado Springs, Greg Garcia of New Mexico, Arleen (Pat) Runion of Kansas, Al Garcia Sr. of La Junta and Fabian Garcia of Rocky Ford. Grandchildren Vince Garcia (Yvonne Herrera), La Junta, George Tapia, Victoria Tapia, Kansas, Al Garcia Jr, La Junta and Yvonne Bargas, Colorado Springs. She has 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, friends who will continue to celebrate Rita’s life.

Johnson-Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
