Obituary

James Vernon Jenner of Rocky Ford passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the age of 97 in Fowler. Jim was born in Bristol, Colorado to Teresa & Jacob Jenner. After high school he joined the Air Force. Jim married Donna Totten in 1947. After the Air Force Jim earned his Journeyman’s Plumbers License.

They moved to Rocky Ford in 1953, Jim began working as a plumber in La Junta before going to work at Wilson’s Plumbing in Rocky Ford. Jim earned his Master Plumber’s License in the mid 50’s and began Jenner’s Plumbing, first out of his house on 7th St. before moving the business to Main St. Jim retired in 1975 when he sold his business to his daughter and son-in-law. After retirement Jim and Donna traveled the country in their RV. They made Port Isabel, TX their home for 25 years.

Jim was an avid fisherman; he taught both of his daughters to fish and took them all over to enjoy fishing. Jim would make his own weights and was known to take the kids out of school on Wednesday so they could go fishing for the weekend. If the fishing was really good, they may not come home until Tuesday.

Jim also was a great woodworker, he enjoyed playing cards and was especially good at cribbage. He was a meticulous gardener and loved animals. He always had various pets around, however Donna was not very happy when he came home with 3 baby racoons. Jim was a great father and loved his children very much. Jim was also a member of the Rocky Ford Elks Lodge no. 1147.

Jim is survived by his 2 daughters: Linda Jenner of Littleton, Kathy (Randy) Wright of Rocky Ford, 1 granddaughter: Stacy (Danny) Kibler of Colorado Springs, 3 great-grandchildren: Cheyanne White, Montana White both of Rocky Ford, Trenton Kibler of Colorado Springs.
