Harwood Fire Photo Gallery by Daniel Chaparro

According to Rocky Ford Fire Chief Ray Gonzales, the fire started in the dry brush pictured here. Gonzales said that the fire is under investigation and the cause is undetermined. (Watch the Interview)

Mutual aid was provided by several Southeast Colorado Fire Houses including the La Junta Fire Department seen tapping into a fire hydrant.

Powerlines caught fire and caused a hazard for first responders on scene.

The fire spread quickly across the lot of the former Harwood Lumber Yard, most recently operated as Brewer's Construction. 

The store front at the corner of 10th and Railroad Ave in Rocky Ford, Colorado in full flames.

An downed powerline proved to be a problem and prevented fire fighters from accessing the fire. A line seen hanging has be turned off by local linemen from Black Hills Energy. Fire Fighters had a wet seat for many hours of applying thousands of gallons on this large structure fire.

The Harwood Fire continued into the night, BNSF train traffic slowly passed by the active fire for several days. The wall facing 10th street were knocked down to eliminate risk to the publics' safety.

Downed powerlines, high winds and a tin roof were just some of the difficulties the fire fighters faced.

Fire fighters and Rocky Ford residents down wind suffered terrible air quality as smoke was spread by relentless high winds.

SECO News Publisher Adrian Hart spent several hours on scene gathering video footage, photos and accurate information for the community. 

Rocky Ford's Junior Fire Fighters brought pizza to feed the hungry first responders.

This aftermath photo shows that several buildings and vehicles were lost to the fire.
