NWS Reports on Multiple Landspouts Across the Eastern Plains on May 12th, 2024

Overview

On May 12th, 2024, scattered thunderstorms developed across the eastern plains. A few of these thunderstorms would go on to produce landspouts.

One thunderstorm produced a couple of landspouts just to the northwest of Lamar, Colorado around 1:00 PM MDT. These landspouts were nearly stationary and lasted around 3 to 5 minutes.

Then around 3:30 PM MDT, a cluster of thunderstorms produced another landspout just north of Eads, Colorado. This landspout was also nearly stationary and lasted around 7 minutes.

Given the lack of any known damage with these landspouts, they will be rated EF-Unknown.
