Obituary

Cody Don Hershey, born on April 15, 1964, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, passed away on May 26, 2024, in Fowler, Colorado, at age of 60.

Cody graduated from Fowler High School in 1983 and went on to serve his country with honor and pride in the United States Army from January 3, 1985, to December 19, 1987. During his service, Cody was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal for exemplary behavior, the Overseas Service Ribbon for his deployment, and the Hand Grenade Expert Badge for his proficiency. He also received a Best Driver Award for his outstanding performance.

Throughout his life, Cody worked in various roles. He contributed significantly to the communities of Fowler and Olney Springs, bringing dedication and hard work to his positions. One of his favorite jobs was serving as the lead of the assembly line at Polaris in Iowa. He also proudly bragged about doing the job of three people in purchasing at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.

Cody was athletic and loved watching sports, mostly college sports including track and field. He was also an avid collector of football and baseball cards and a history buff. He had a special gift with animals, especially dogs, earning him the nickname "animal whisperer." His kindred spirit was the wolf, embodying its qualities of loyalty, strength, and a deep connection to nature. Cody also enjoyed watching lightning storms, which brought him a sense of peace and wonder. Listening to music soothed his soul. Known for his sense of humor and genuine heart, Cody brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. Fondly called "Indian Cody" by many of his children's friends, he was a beloved figure in their lives, always ready with a joke or a helping hand.

A celebration of Cody's life will be held at a later date. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate his remarkable life.

Cody Don Hershey will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
