18th Annual “Cruisin’ Into Fun” Festival & “Keep Kids Safe” Fair
Tri-County Family Care Center (TCFCC) had their 18th Annual “Cruisin’ Into Fun Festival” & “Keep Kids Safe” Fair, on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Rocky Ford with about 800 people attending.
Rocky Ford Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Buddy System Safety Booth and sold burritos all day. Kenny Arguello was the Emcee and Trent Ryan, Ark Valley Entertainment was the DJ. Entertainment included Caitlyn Tibbles, singing and playing guitar, Kaydence Salazar & Early Morning Coffee, and Successful Rejects Band. Performances were by: An Old West Live Gunfight Reenactment from Colorado Springs and UC Lifeline helicopter landed in City Hall parking lot.
Kids Games Hula Hoop Winners were Adult - Jennifer Harmon; 13 - 17yrs Aliynah Montano; 9 - 12yrs - 1st Legacy Gallatin, 2nd Lovella Harmon, 3rd Donovan Duran; 5 – 8yrs - 1st Amiyah Ruiz, 2nd - Genisis Mondragon, 3rd - Cloe Woodruff. Gunny Sack Race Winners: 13 – 17yrs Aliynah Montano, 9 - 12yrs - 1st Legacy Gallatin, 2nd Hailey Lopez, 3rd Lovella Harmon; 5 – 8yrs - 1st Opal Cordova, 2nd Merced Luna, 3rd Reimy Broyles. Kid’s Games sponsors were Tank & Tummy, Pepsi Beverages Company, Rocky Ford Sonic, Rocky Ford Food Market, La Junta Pizza Hut, Wendy’s, Erlinda’s Salon and China Kitchen.
Our “Got Wheels?” car show winners were: Hot Rod & People’s Choice – Wayne Plymell, Customized- Alvaro Gonzalez, Low Rider – Luciano Mondragon, Unusual – Hannah & JD Muth, Classic – Susan Schulz, Antique Bike – Robert Powell, Original – Cardon & Joyce Berry, Motorcycle – Roger Vigil. Car Show sponsors were Ruby’s Auto Body, Absolute Automotive, NAPA/Valley Auto Parts, Perkin’s Chevrolet, La Junta Car Quest, La Junta Trading, H & R Tire, Ruben’s Auto Body Shop and Rikki Dee’s Bike Shop
“Keep Kids Safe” Fair drawing for the safety booths Bingo winner was Luciano Mondragon & Jazmin Santos for completing their Bingo sheet by visiting all the safety booths. ‘Keep Kids Safe’ Fair sponsors were Dianne Willhoite, Lewis Bolt & Nut, Colorado Bank and Trust, Val-U-Med Pharmacy, Valley Plumbing & Heating, Otero County Health Department Tobacco Coalition, City of Rocky Ford, Wallace Oil Company, Community Presbyterian Church, SM Construction, First National Bank, Rocky Ford Napa Auto Parts, Armendariz Insurance LLC., Gobin’s & Gearhead, Inc. Event insurance was sponsored by Van Dyk Insurance.
“Silver” sponsors were: La Junta State Bank and Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. “Super” Sponsors were KKTV 11 News, Total Concept and Black Hills Energy.
People toured the Rocky Ford Fire facility and had drawings for bikes. The beer garden was sponsored by Rocky Ford Wrestling Foundation. Aaron Salas had a corn hole tournament with 13 teams sponsored by Len’s Tavern. A 50/50 Cash Pot Raffle drawing was held, with Debbie Apodaca as the winner.

The day’s festivities concluded with a Pie Eating Contest co-sponsored by TCFCC and Village Inn of La Junta. Following were the winners of the various age brackets 5-8 yrs. Dakota Clarke, 9-12 yrs. no name given 13-17 yrs. Abel Segura and Adult - Michael Gonzales.

We feel this year’s festival was a success and are making plans for next year’s event to be held on June 7, 2025.
