Obituary

Yvonne Bernadette Montanez, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 2, 2024, in Lakewood Colorado, She was born on October 17, 1960, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Yvonne faced adversity with remarkable courage after an auto accident in 2000 that left her partially paralyzed. Her sister Loretta and brother-in-law Casey Kerr of Golden, Colorado, lovingly cared for her, ensuring she lived a happy life surrounded by family.

She is survived by her children Dominic Montanez of Coral Springs, Florida, Kimberly Moran (Deandre) of Oahu, Hawaii, Christine Truman, of Madison, Indiana; Yvonne found great joy as a grandmother to seven grandchildren, Logan, Kameron, Khloe, Karter, Lovel, Nakoa, and Ellahanna, five brothers, Manuel Montanez (Kim) of Denver, CO, Robert Montanez of Denver, CO, Lawrence Montanez (Rose) of Worland, WY, Ernest Montanez (Lisa) of Rocky Ford, CO, Fred Montanez (Joanne) of Pueblo, CO; and two sisters, Gloria Miell (Rick) of La Junta, CO, and Loretta Kerr (Casey) of Golden, CO, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael Montanez, and her parents Delores and Paul Montanez.

Yvonne was artistic and a really sweet person who would do anything for anybody. She enjoyed, game shows. She loved her Corn Flakes in the morning, she especially loved Music, her friends and her family. Yvonne won a record award when she went to a camp for a week in June of 2008. She won the award for knowing the most words to songs and singing along to the songs they played! Yvonne was so proud of her award! She loved her oldies and James Taylor songs! Yvonne smiled so big when she was told she was amazing for knowing so many words to songs! Love and music from family helped with Yvonne's recovery. Yvonne was such a sweet and beautiful family member and we all were so blessed to have had her in our lives.

A funeral service honoring Yvonne's life will be held on July 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at The La Junta First Church of The Nazarene. Her brother Ernest will be officiating the service. Following the service, interment will take place at Rocky Ford Cemetery. Yvonne's resilience, kindness, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.
