Bent County Sheriff Reports on Fatal Motorcycle Crash

July 14th, 2024 

Bent County Sheriffs Office received reports of a motorcycle crash on Highway 50 westbound, just outside City limits of Las Animas. 

Deputies responded to the scene along with the Las Animas Fire Department and the Bent County Ambulance Service. Deputies arrived on scene quickly and located the rider. Unfortunately, deputies determined the rider was deceased at that time. 

Colorado State Patrol and the Bent County Coroner were notified. Highway 50 westbound lanes were shut down while Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit (VCU) investigated and reconstructed the crash scene. 

The Bent County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the involved rider. Whose name is not being released at this time.
