La Junta Names Finalist for City Manager
La Junta, Colorado- Following an extensive search and interviews by the City Manager Selection Committee, the City of La Junta has named a finalist for the City Manager position.
Patrick C. Comiskey is a seasoned municipal leader with extensive experience in city management and public administration. Over his distinguished career, he has managed diverse city operations and led transformative projects in multiple communities.
As City Manager of Mount Dora, FL from 2021 to 2024, Patrick oversaw a city with a population of approximately 18,000 and an annual budget of $130 million. He implemented cost-saving measures, including a $16-$20 million savings plan by repurposing existing structures for new fire stations and a public works complex. Patrick also achieved significant savings by consolidating positions, negotiating project costs, and securing federal and state funding for capital projects. His leadership was instrumental in enhancing the city's infrastructure, from upgrading sewer systems to increasing parking facilities and boosting tourism operations.
Prior to Mount Dora, Patrick served as City Manager in Cambridge, MD (2018-2021), where he managed a $20 million budget and a staff of 112. His tenure was marked by successful budget management, strategic partnerships for waterfront development, and efforts to secure federal funds for neighborhood revitalization.
Patrick's career began as Director of Purchasing and Personnel in Clarksburg, WV, where he developed purchasing policies and employee programs. His foundational roles also include City Manager positions in Thomaston, GA, and Wellsburg, WV, where he led significant infrastructure improvements and fiscal management.
The City will hold a public meet & greet on August 7, beginning at 6:00 PM, at City Hall. Mr. Comiskey will be interviewed by the City Council on August 8.
