Obituary
Mildred Gloria Wolak, "Milly" entered into rest on September 13, 2024, in her Walsenburg Colorado home with her family by her side. She was born to Myra and Dale on January 28, 1933, in Illinois.
Milly was the loving matriarch of her family and is survived by her daughter Daina (Bea) and her daughter in love, Susan. She was the cherished grandmother to Jessica (Jeremy), Elizabeth (Clayton), Kourtny (Matt), and Michelle. Milly was the proud great-grandmother to Lilly (Thad), Autumn, Payten, Camryn, Italia, Marcelino, Weston, Sloan, and Emmi. She was the best big sister to Gwen and her baby brother, Butch. She is also survived my many nieces and nephews who lovingly call her Aunt Punk!
Milly is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Norman Wolak, her sons, Dean and Aron, parents Myra and Dale.
She was known for her feisty, loving, caring, athletic, ornery, and funny personality, which endeared her to many throughout her life. Milly married the love of her life, Normie, on August 29th, 1953. They moved to Gunnison Colorado where they began their family. After a few years in Gunnison, they moved to Walsenburg Colorado. Milly worked alongside her Normie for many years at their credit bureau.
She was a well know and much-loved resident in the community. An avid sports enthusiast, Milly enjoyed playing softball and volleyball in her younger years and never missed watching a football game or cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.
A Celebration of Milly's life will be held on September 28th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Full Gospel Church, located at 205 W 10th St, Walsenburg Colorado followed by a Committal Service at the Walsenburg Masonic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, supporting the community that Milly loved so dearly. Milly was love by many and will be greatly missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romero Funeral Home, 921 Colorado Ave, La Junta Colorado.
