Spark From Mower Ignites North La Junta Brush Fire; Firefighters Contain Spread
At approx 1109am today we responded to a reported brush fire in the 600blk of Main St in North La Junta.

First arriving apparatus reported what look to be a out of control ag burn running NW toward a group of trees and a house. Chief Davidson arrived and requested two more engines for structure protection and and second tender for water supply.
DFPC Battalion 34 and Engine 34 arrived as well to assist. Crews made aggressive attacks from all directions of the fire making sure to stop the progression toward the houses.

A perimeter was controlled crews had the fire under control and had lots of mop up of piles of tree limbs and a large pile of hay.
The cause of the fire was from a spark from a large mower cutting weeds and grass. The OCSO assisted notifications.
