Fatal Overnight House Fire Under Investigation in Crowley County

At approximately 11:36 pm on February 2, 2026 Crowley County Fire Departments were paged to a reported structure fire in Onley Springs, Colorado in the area of South Stith Ave.  A manufactured home was reported to be on fire, with owner trapped inside.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke with flames showing from the middle of the home.  Firefighters worked to make entry into the end of the home, other crews suppressed the fire in the center of the home.  During search operations crews from Crowley County and Rocky Ford Fire Departments located a victim.  Despite efforts, one victim was pronounced deceased in the residence.  Family was on scene and notified by Crowley County Fire Chief, deceased person’s information will be released at a later time by the coroner.

Department of Fire Pervention and Control (DFPC) was notified and Crowley County coroner as well.  The origin of the fire is under investigation.

Crowley County Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank all first responders involved with this incident.  Mutual aid was received from Rocky Ford, Manzanola, and Fowler Fire Departments.  Medical support from Med Trans and Flight crew was also initiated.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic incident.  The department would like to remind the public of the importance of functional smoke alarms, fire escape planning, and fire safety awareness.
